Steve, thank you so much for the online courses. I learned more online than what I expected. I find that your videos are much more helpful than books and other materials. I plan to learn the most important lessons again before taking the water course. Regards Rafal
I just want to say, your online training is top notch. I learn something every time I log in. The fact that you go above and beyond to engage with your subscribers only adds to the already incredible value we get from your site. Thank you very much for your time.
Steve/Vas, your instructor series is phenomenal. Please let me be the first to say you are correct in what you say. One can teach themselves how to SM just by watching the videos as I have done. One can teach themselves how to SM just by watching the videos as I have done. However, I did compromise/sacrifice my learning curve without one of you (SM essentials instructor). It took me almost one year to get pretty good with AL80s. I then took the first level of tech diving a year after that and told my tech instructor I was doing it in SM configuration. I had to tell him I taught myself which he responded with “you most likely will have to take a SM workshop with me depending on how I do on dive one”. After the first dive he said “there is no reason for you to take a class with me”. So your online training is spot on but if I had it to do all over again I would see your guy Joe Seda first. I will, in the future, take the course with him so I can be the best I can be. Regards Tony read less
The major change in equipment cave divers use since the beginning of this century has been to switch from using backmounted doubles to sidemount. Many cave divers now sidemount. There may even be more sidemount sidemount cave divers that backmount cave divers.
While we are able to teach the SDI course if you ask, the default is the TDI. Although you can do this program as an individual course, we recommend that students combine it with the Apprentice Cave Diver class.
For items such as primary and cylinder lights that may prove difficult to transport, rental is possible. We will be happy to assist you if you have any questions.
Please send me a renewal number for Package 1 – Instructor Course. Sidemountpcb.com is my fifth year. I am looking forward to it. Your team is a wonderful source of inspiration and guidance. All the very best! Scott
If the course is successfully completed, graduates are eligible to participate in sidemount dive activities under supervision.

Read moreI've never tried sidemount, but I was able to see his online training and knew that he was the right man for me to learn it and feel confident about it. I was right! It was truly an unforgettable week! Sidemount PCB Essentials has exceeded all my expectations. Steve is a wonderful teacher. He has patience and takes time to help his students. Every detail is meticulously planned. It was a memorable experience that I enjoyed. Sidemount PCB Essentials Course changed my diving. In a very short time, my awareness and skills under water rose to levels I had never imagined. Everything is in order: the harness setup, weight, position, cylinder trim, and your balance in water. You will feel relaxed and confident, and you'll experience true sidemount setup... with no back pain! It was challenging but very enjoyable. Each day begins with a planning and theoretical session. Then, we have a video review of our drills in water. Everything is explained in great detail. Our learning curve is steep because we had to drain our cylinders each time we entered the water. The entire process was performed in a relaxed, secure environment and yet showed extraordinary professionalism. You should not hesitate to take this course with Steve. Steve will show you how to become a great diver if you're passionate about Sidemount PCB. read less
The benefits of sidemount diving will be explained and you'll also learn how to install a tec-sidemount harness. This training includes four open water dives and one confined water. You will have two tanks to start with and two tanks to add, possibly six.
Computer-aided instruction is an integral aspect of nearly all courses we teach. Why? The answer is simple: eLearning makes it easier for students to get in the water quicker and spend more time in the water. That's why we offer all applicable eLearning courses -- which are usually worth $140 -- at no additional charge. This means that you will get an additional day of training in the water. How valuable is that? Priceless.
Steve, just wanted you to know how much we appreciate your online Sidemount PCB course. I was unable to complete my PADI sidemount PCB training because my XDeep harness system wasn't working the way I wanted. Although the instructor was very knowledgeable, I could tell that he wasn't a true sidemounter. I had signed up for your free online course which was great, but... read onSteve, I wanted to thank your amazing online Sidemount PCB class. I was unable to get my PADI sidemount PCB training done last year because my XDeep harness system wasn't as streamlined as I needed it to be. Although the instructor was very knowledgeable, it was clear that he didn’t live and breathe sidemount. I had signed up for your course, which was great but didn't give me enough. I am going to Florida to complete my Overhead Environment training. I wanted to make sure my skills were up to date. After viewing your entire online course, WOW! Your suggestions were invaluable in helping me rebuild my XDeep bungee harness. Your instructions helped me rebuild my entire bungee system. I also redid my attachment points and wing. I now feel like my setup is right and I'm very comfortable in the water. I want to thank you once again. Next, I want to master all my skills. This is easier because my harness is correctly set up. Wish I had spent the money to get your training a full year ago. Take care and keep the updates coming. Thanks, Jason read less
